Marathon disaster
Rock and Roll Marathon San Diego, May 31st - 2009
Ummm yea......
Marathon lessons for beginners who think they are not beginners:
1) Reduced training due to injury, limiting running to 10 miles max for the last month, not a good sign.
2) Planning on running slighly harder than your best training day, after #1 above, not a good plan.
3) Thinking it won't have that big of impact on the run, only a little slower, but no real problems, is not a smart thought from #1 and #2 above.
4) feeling like crap and knowing your in trouble at 15 miles is not agood sign when you are to hold through 20 before that wall.
5) Assuming you will run hard on this day, is not a good thought given #1-4 above.
The result of the 1-5 above, total repect for marathon distance New respect for the
10 Km 44:59 -- 7:15 pace
Half 1:39:19 -- 7:35 pace
21 Mile 3:01:03 -- 8:38 pace
Chip Time 4:10:26 -- 9:34 pace
Overall Place 3435 / 13291
Gender Place 2430 / 6828
Division Place 453 / 1193

4 to go!
4 days until RnR marathon. .........
Feeling rested, feeling strong, shin splints are bad, but they can hold for 1 long day.
10 miles in 1:20 (want under 1:20, practice runs put this at 1:18)
20 miles by 2:40 (3 long runs put this at 2;43, 2:40, 2:45 ....)
26.2 miles by 3:35
We'll see......
2 other marathons, not trained for, or sick for, are 4:27:18, and 4:27:36. Consistantly slow. But when you dont train, what cha gonna do.
Enjoy the day!

La Jolla 1/2 Marathon - April Desert trip.

Continue to train for RnR Marathon San Diego. I am also doing the triple crown at the same time which is 3 half Marathons.
Ran La Jolla 1/2 in 1 hour 38 min. Personl best for me. I finished 219th out of 6000. Not too shabby. I was 35th in my age group out of 465. And it went up the Torrey Pines hill. Was high for 2 days after that. Then I realized my legs still hurt 4 days later.
Been to the desert a couple more times. Last trip was mid April, absolutely stunning whether. Good times with the Thummans. Isa is riding the quad very well and Macky of course is doing great. Keeps up with the Thumann boys most of the time. Sarah loves riding in the buggy or the quad. gets all excited.
Guess its time for a 4 seater. bad video quality but....
Take care.

> Calvary Chapel Mexico http://www.ccbcmexico.com/content/
Forgot about Missions trip to Calvary Chapel Ensenada, Mexico in Feb 2008. Great trip, great guys, great experience.
Plus I got trive a Dozer(D6) and a roller. Dumped rain absolutely the entire time, solid mud. Stayed in Puerto Nuevo, lobster and tortillias and the best carne asada tacos on the planet a block from Juans' church.

Left to Right
Rich, Bobby, Dan C, John, George, TJ and Me.
